Among the numerous symbols of Campania Region there is Mount Vesuvius, famous as the volcano that erupted and buried Pompeii in 79 A. D.
Since 1995 Vesuvius has been national park and nowadays you can reach the top of this active volcano and enjoy a breathtaking view over the Golf of Naples, the vesuvian towns and Capri from 1281 meters above sea level.
You will meet your guide at the lobby of your hotel and by private mini van you will reach the town of Torre del Greco. From there you will take the 8 km long road built on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius and you will be dropped off at an altitude of 1000 meters. Then take the trail and in 25 minutes you will be on top of the volcano. During the climbing have a look at the soil: it is full of pyroclastic materials and it shines in the sun because of the minerals contained in the lava.
Important to know: for most people the hike is not that hard, but if you have problems (for example medical problem) it is better if you stay at the bottom (1000 meters).
Since it takes only 3 hours for a full visit of Mount Vesuvius we suggest combine this tour with the visit of an archeological site, like Pompeii or Herculaneum, or with a wine tasting in a local vineyard.
